What the aida.swiss website stores on your device, why, for how long, and how to refuse it.

1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device through your browser. It allows your browser to be recognised from one page to the next or from one visit to the next. Other techniques serve the same purpose, such as the browser's local storage; for convenience, we refer to them here as "cookies".
This policy concerns the aida.swiss website. The Aida MD, Aida Dental and Aida Desk software have their own mechanisms, described in their documentation and in the contract concluded with each customer.
2. The cookies we use

Third-party content
The news administration interface, reserved for the Aida team, sets authentication cookies on its own pages only. No visitor to the public website is exposed to them.
We use no advertising cookies, no social media trackers and no profiling tools.
3. Necessary cookies
The NEXT_LOCALE cookie is essential to the operation of the website: without it, the language you chose would not be remembered from one page to the next. It contains only the language code (fr, de, it or en), does not identify you personally and is not passed to any third party. It does not require your consent.
The site also sets two technical cookies linked to your consent: aida_region, which records whether you are visiting from the EEA or the UK, and aida_consent, which remembers your choice so we do not ask again on every page. They serve no other purpose and do not require your consent either.
4. Your consent
If you visit the site from a country of the European Economic Area (European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) or from the United Kingdom, Google Analytics and Google Maps only load after you consent, in the banner shown on your first visit. Until you choose, or if you refuse, no analytics or third-party content cookie is set. On the Contact page, you can also show the map once, with a click.
You can change your mind at any time with the "Manage cookies" link at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw your consent, audience measurement stops at once and the Google Analytics cookies are deleted. Your choice is kept for six months; we then ask again.
From Switzerland and other countries, audience measurement is active by default, as the FADP allows provided the information on this page is given. You can object to it at any time, as described below.
Your country is inferred from your IP address by our hosting provider at the time of the visit. This can be wrong, for instance behind a VPN; the "Manage cookies" link and your browser settings then remain available.
5. Audience measurement
We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Ltd, to learn which pages are viewed, from which countries and devices, and which content is read or played. This information serves solely to improve the website. It is aggregated: we do not seek to identify any individual visitor.
Google Analytics 4 does not record full IP addresses. The data may be transferred to the United States, on the basis of Google's certification under the Swiss-U.S. and EU-U.S. Data Privacy Frameworks. Measurement data is kept for 14 months.
You may object to this measurement at any time: by blocking third-party cookies in your browser, by installing the Google Analytics opt-out add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout), or by enabling a tracker blocker.
6. Third-party content
The Contact page embeds a Google Maps map to show the location of our offices. When this page loads, your browser connects to Google's servers, which may set their own cookies and process your IP address in accordance with Google's privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy). The other pages of the website do not call Google Maps.
From the EEA and the UK, the map only loads after your consent or if you click "Show the map".
The demonstration films are streamed from our own server (cdn.aida.med), which sets no cookies.
7. Managing cookies
You may at any time delete stored cookies and refuse new ones in your browser settings. Each browser documents how to do so:
Safari: Settings, Privacy, Manage Website Data.
Chrome: Settings, Privacy and security, Third-party cookies.
Firefox: Settings, Privacy & Security, Cookies and Site Data.
Edge: Settings, Cookies and site permissions.
If you block all cookies, the website remains accessible; only the language memory stops working from one page to the next.
8. Changes and contact
We update this list when the website changes. The date at the top of the page shows the latest revision. For any question: legal@aida.med.
